Fort Worth | TicketBarato
The most western portion of the DFW Metroplex and historical part of the Chisolm trail, Fort Worth is known by diverse names such as Cowtown and Panther City...when the town was considered a sleepy cowtown between cattle drives, legend has it a panther was seen sleeping in the road in the middle of town!. It also has the distinction of being "Where the West Begins"!
While being the 19th most populous city in the US with over half a million inhabitants, Fort Worth lacks a real big-city feel, which appeals to local citizens. A friendly competition exists between Dallas and Fort Worth, and citizens of Fort Worth are happy with their friendy, small-town feel versus the big city, lost-in-a-crowd neighbor to the East.
The town began as Camp Worth on an Indian trading site and there is a historical site where you can visit a rendering of the log cabin site that tells the story of it's beginnings. Once the railroad opened up, cattle was the big story with the Fort Worth Stockyards a main attraction with saloons and all the trappings of 'sin city' lining up for all the cowboys to enjoy that drove the cattle into town.
